Privacy Policy
Under UK GDPR, individuals have a right to know which personal data is being held about them, where it is held and how securely, why and for how long it is retained, how to request to see and alter it, or have it deleted.
There are three reasons why data about my readers and customers might be held:
If you have agreed to be on a central mailing list (see (i) below)
If you have purchased anything via the website (see (ii) below)
If you have contributed any comments to my website
(i) The mailing list is arranged by using Mailchimp (Intuit). Please see their Privacy Policy here. My customers are contacted to ask if they would like to join the mailing list, and any reader of my website is invited to join it. Agreeing to be on the list is on the understanding their details stay there until either I stop selling my work, or a reader asks for their details to be removed. An ‘Unsubscribe’ option is included in every email you receive from ‘Claire Nicholas – author’.
(ii) Purchase requests are currently handled via BACS. In the future they may be collected by using Stripe. Please see their Privacy Policy here.
Personal data enabling me to conduct my business with readers and customers is held on my laptop and in the cloud via OneDrive. In addition to the normal password to unlock my laptop and virus protection, my customers’ personal data is held amongst various folders, all of which have a separate password.
I currently handle all other aspects of the requests, packaging and delivery of publications myself. If any other agent is ever needed to help, it will only be done under strict assurance they abide by the same UK GDPR procedures.
I will not share anyone’s personal data outside the remit for which it is held.
The financial details of anyone who does not approve for them to be retained will be deleted after the required period has expired. Please see the Returns Policy for more details.
There is also a Contact Form.
